Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our BBQ gear and pits
How do I season my new Chuds BBQ pit?
Coat the interior with a thin layer of high-smoke point cooking oil and run a clean fire at 300°F for 3-4 hours to create a protective non-stick patina.
What is the lead time for custom smoker builds?
Custom pits typically have a lead time of 8-12 weeks, depending on the current order volume and complexity of the build.
Do you ship your heavy-duty pits internationally?
Currently, we ship our full-sized pits within the continental US via freight. Smaller accessories and apparel can be shipped internationally.
What type of wood do you recommend for the best flavor?
We recommend well-seasoned hardwoods like Post Oak, Hickory, or Pecan for the most consistent heat and clean smoke profile.
Can I use charcoal in my Chuds offset smoker?
While our pits are designed for wood-fire cooking, you can use charcoal as a base to establish a coal bed before adding wood splits for flavor.
Are the cutting boards dishwasher safe?
No, our premium wooden cutting boards should be hand-washed only and treated regularly with food-grade mineral oil to prevent cracking.
